FAQs

There are no dress codes for coming to a church service at Viroqua UMC. Come casual or come dressed up – JUST COME!

There is a parking lot on the north side of the church. The entrance to the parking lot is on Center Street. You can also park on the streets around the church.

We are encouraging folks to use the big doors in the Center Street archway when attending services. The double doors of the education wing are also a main entrance and used during the week to access the office. Greeters are in the hallway on Sunday mornings and can answer any questions you might have.

The handicapped entrance and lift are located in the northwest corner of the building near the parking lot.

Ask anyone. We’re friendly. Greeters can guide you to the sanctuary. Ushers will give you a bulletin as you enter the sanctuary.

Our Sunday morning worship is a traditional style service. We use the United Methodist Hymnal and the Faith We Sing Songbook for traditional and more contemporary hymns. A pipe organ leads the music. A choir sings two or three Sundays a month and the kids sing on the last Sunday of the month.

Coffee and cookies are served in the chapel on Sunday mornings beginning about 9:45 AM. This is a good time to visit with one another.

Sunday School for school age children through 7th grade is held on Sunday mornings. Children come to worship with their families, and then leave for Sunday school after the Children’s Time.

Confirmation Classes are held for 8th grade students.

High school students meet together on a flexible schedule. They are involved with the life of the church by serving on committees and participating in worship services.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. All who love Christ, earnestly repent of their sins, and seek to be a peace with one another are invited to the table. We alternate serving communion at the rail, by intinction, or in the pews. Gluten free is available.

If you have any additional questions about the Viroqua United Methodist Church, please feel free to email us at viroqua@viroquawestbyumc.org or call the church office at (608) 637-3551, and we’d be glad to make sure you receive the information you need!

Who are we?

We are an imperfect but caring community of people learning to follow Jesus together.
Whether you have been part of church your whole life, are returning after time away, or are
simply curious about faith, you are welcome here. You do not need to have everything figured
out to walk through our doors. Come as you are. There is a place for you — to worship, to ask
questions, to grow in faith, and to be part of a community that cares.

As part of the United Methodist Church, we strive to live with open hearts, open minds, and
open doors, creating a place where all people can experience God’s love, find belonging, and
grow in faith. We believe faith grows through worship, prayer, friendship, service, and walking
alongside one another through life’s joys and challenges. We seek to love God, love others,
and serve our community with compassion and grace.

At Viroqua UMC, our ministry centers around four key priorities: worshiping God, growing in
faith, nurturing relationships, and developing the next generation. We gather for traditional
worship, prayer, and Scripture, seeking to deepen our relationship with God and encourage
one another in daily life. We offer opportunities for connection through choir, women’s
fellowship, book studies, Bible studies, Sunday School, service opportunities, community
outreach, and more.

God, the giver of life, generous giver of gifts and abilities, help us discover
our talents and have the courage to use them to serve you and our community
with unimagined new purposes and deepening love for Jesus Christ. Amen.
