Confirmation is an important milestone along our spiritual journeys.  It is an opportunity to respond to the grace of God available to us, as acknowledged in baptism, and to promise to live as a person of faith.

Middle School age students, usually 8th grade, are the ones who usually participate in Confirmation. The Viroqua and Westby churches do Confirmation as a joint activity. The students meet together with our Pastor once a week during the school year. Each Confirmation student is assigned an adult mentor to help guide them through the learning process as they study Methodism, what it means to be a member of the church and what it means to be a Christian.

When the classes are complete, the youth stand before their congregation, renew their baptismal vow, and receive a blessing from the church.  They are given the opportunity to become full members of the local congregation.

Confirmation is not simply a destination.  It is a pit stop, a place where we renew our commitment to the journey we have been traveling under the care of others.  It is also a time for the local congregation to celebrate their young people’s faith and commitment to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ and to renew their commitment to do the same.
